The CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, talked about using psychedelics on an episode of the podcast "Life in Seven Songs," stating that he changed his perspective after getting high.Previously a "Very anxious, unhappy person," Altman said that a trip to Mexico over the weekend "Significantly change[d] that."
Altman, who was formerly "super anti-Burning Man for a long time," has now attended the Black Rock Desert festival five or six times. Altman was taken aback by the extent to which his escape to Mexico had changed him. His disposition has been beneficial from "a quality of life perspective," and he "feels like a very calm person now," in part because of his workload. "If you had told me that one weekend-long retreat in Mexico was going to significantly change that, I would have said absolutely not," said Altman.
Not all Silicon Valley founders are making psychedelics uncool by giving them their grown-up seal of approval, like Altman.
