Venom: Official Trailer Review

Venom has always been my favourite villain from the Spider-Man universe because he’s the anti Spider-Man. Definitely not hating on this movie yet, but the removal of Spider-Man from his origin hurts me.

On one hand, I really want this movie to be good since the Venom design is sick.On the other hand, I don't want Sony to keep making Spider-Man spin-off movies that have no connection to Spider-Man in them.

Venom himself looks absolutely amazing, but the plot looks terrible. I have a really bad feeling about this. It’s the cliche alien property government/evil company that does experiments on an alien/animal to improve the human body. “Embrace your inner anti-hero” I’m sick of villains becoming anti-heroes. It’s official, Sony can’t do trailers. They either don’t show enough footage or show too much of it.

At one point in the trailer, Brock practically turns to the camera and says "The love interest works for the villain." Not 100% on the direction they're taking with the action either. He looks more accurate to the comics than Spidey 3. Everyone wants to see Venom on screen, myself included. But I'm still not convinced.

I don't want to be the person that goes to watch a movie already soured, and I think that's the worst possible way to watch a movie. I'm just saying that if I were a gambling man, I wouldn't bet on this.
