"Create a need for something, then take it away."

"Create a need for something, then take it away. This is control."
Stumbled on this quote today and my first thought was "so wanting anything is bad and makes you vulnerable to control?" I guess that makes sense, but there are plenty of "controls" of that kind that have nothing to do with people and are inescapable. So it's hardly all bad, it just represents a vulnerability to guard against.

At the same time, I can see people taking it in an anti-technology or anti-civilization kind of way, that you're automatically a "slave" under the "control" of the powers that be if you use the internet or have a bank account or do basically anything. Or maybe I just listen to too many conspiracy theories. What do you think ?
