I have been thinking of Apple as a conservative company in the last few years.
One more concerned with keeping an existing success formula going than with innovating per se. It's not a particularly bad thing on its own, just annoying that people still call them innovation centered while they diverged from that strategy years ago.
They're also not very design centered since they kept the bezels on the iphones so large; too worried that people will complain about accidental touches, etc. A very defensive company in that regard once again.
