N’Sync: Top 10 Songs & Music Videos

nsync-best-songs-covers-single-albumWith Justin Timberlake reuniting with his former N’Sync band mates (Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick) for the 2013 MTV VMAs, it’s the perfect time to take a look back at the delicious boy band pop goodness that made them blow up all around the world.

I still remember the first time I came across N’Sync in 1999/2000. It was actually a commercial for their hit single, “I Want You Back” and how it was available at Walmart – LOL. As the boy band grew in popularity, it became quickly apparent that Justin was the lead and towards the end, the other guys became backup singers à la Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child. Shortly thereafter, JT went solo with his debut single, “Like I Love You” and N’Sync went “Bye, Bye, Bye“. JT later left the music industry to pursue acting and other interests and just this past year treated us once again to his music.

I’ve put together a list of my favorite top 10 songs and music videos from N’Sync below and I’ve also included a poll. Take a trip down memory lane and check them out. The ordering may differ from the way you’d have done it yourself, but my list is based on what videos I liked the best and what songs I still to this day enjoy singing along to when in the mood for some old school boy band pop.

Enjoy !

(God Must Have Spent) A Little More Time On You

Year Released: 1999
Album: *NSYNC
The slow songs were definitely not what drew me to this boy band, but some of them were catchy nonetheless. This was their first slow song single. In the video, the boys are dressed all in white and have their original signature haircuts and hair colors.

I’ll Never Stop

Year Released: 2001
Album: No Strings Attached
This certainly wasn’t one of their big singles, but it was catchy. It borrows the familiar back track that is found in a few of their other songs and the music video is one of those “behind the scenes footage” videos coupled with tween girls singing to the song.

This I Promise You

Year Released: 2001
Album: No Strings Attached
Another romantic slow song, this one was probably my favorite and also the most popular. In the video, actors bring the lyrics to life while the boys sing to the camera from a forest that has bubbles floating everywhere.

Gone

Year Released: 2001
Album: Celebrity
If I’m not mistaken, this one was on of their last music videos and a great example of how and it had become Justin Timberlake and company. The video is shot in black & white and JT is looking sexy with his shaved head.

Girlfriend

Year Released: 2001
Album: Celebrity
This track had a bit more of a hip-hop edge to it, even in how the video was shot. Justin and JC Chasez take the lead in this one while the other boys back them up as per usual.

It’s Gonna Be Me

Year Released: 2001
Album: No Strings Attached
Now we’re finally onto the songs I really loved. This video is actually pretty amazing as well. It has the token boy band dancing combined with sces from inside a department store where the boys are done up like boy band dolls that come to life.

Pop

I actually remember Downloading the album for this single and played it over and over for a while. It was a pretty fun way to address the haters that dissed them for their boy band pop. I remember this and “Bootylicious” around the same time. So fun.

Tearin’ Up My Heart

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=_ZcmuKsyvzg

Year Released: 1997
Album: *NSYNC
This is one of the tracks I think is so much fun to sing to on a road trip with friends and such. It was one of their first singles and the guys look SO young in this video. It’s such a catchy track though so it’s no wonder it caught on.

I Want You Back

Year Released: 1997
Album: *NSYNC
Once again, this was one of their first songs and it’s fun to sing along to. Their outfits are hilarious and true to how you’d think a boy band would dress at that time. I particularly love Justin’s tight blue shirt. Haha.

Bye, Bye, Bye

Year Released: 2000
Album: No Strings Attached
This is likely at the top of everyone’s list for the best N’Sync song. The video starts off with the boys as string puppets on a stage, but soon break free which is in line with their “No Strings Attached” album titled. Some of the most memorable N’Sync dance moves are in this video. I really hope this is one of the songs they sing at the VMAs!
