Apple holding Official Event on Sept 9

I'm just waiting to be shown why people need a smart watch. I am sure before smartphones people were saying "do people really need a phone with apps?", after which companies showed how awesome it can be. Though I must say that Google hasn't gotten me excited for smart watches yet. Perhaps Apple will?

My point is, I don't want to discount the concept yet before everybody has shown their hand.
